Memorial for Jimmy Cantrell

By: Kim Cantrell Williams

Hey, as Dad would always say, “You preach your funeral in the way that you live your daily life.” Most people do not live by that. I feel that Dad did, at least by me and my children. He was the best husband, dad, grand-dad, and friend that anyone could ask for. Anyone that ever worked with or for dad will agree that he was very fair and loved not only his own family, but family in general. We miss him dearly. Dad retired from UOP in Chickasaw after 36 years of service. He and mom retired to Gulf Shores to enjoy some years of traveling, fishing, and dancing. We try to keep his momentum going. He was a go-getter. I will graduate from Troy University this year with a bachelor’s degree in accounting; Chad, Dad’s oldest grandson graduated from Auburn University with a business degree (sorry Roll Tide fans) in 2003, and is getting married this summer; Blake, Dad’s second grandson (most like dad) will graduate from Trenholm Tech in Machinery August, 2005; and his sweetheart, Natalie, will enter University at Alabama-Birmingham in the Fall of this year with a Green and Gold Scholarship and a position in the Nursing Scholar’s Program (by the way they only take 10 incoming freshmen per year; dad would be so proud.) Oh, my goodness, we miss this man; there is no other like him.

My mother now lives in Pensacola. I know that she would love to hear from some of you. Her address is: Ann Robertson, 3057 Knotty Pine Drive, Pensacola, FL 32505.
